Jean Rou (1638-1711) est un savant huguenot, prcepteur et fonctionnaire aux Provinces-Unies. Accus d'avoir offens l'Eglise catholique dans ses Tables de l'histoire universelle moderne (1675), il est emprisonn la Bastille; puis il s'exile La Haye o il devient prcepteur des enfants de Cornelis van Aerssen van Sommelsdijk, futur gouverneur du Surinam. En 1689, il est nomm traducteur des Etats-Gnraux des Provinces-Unies. Cette tude propose un aperu fascinant des pratiques intellectuelles et sociales des huguenots en France et au Refuge. / Jean Rou (1638-1711) was a Huguenot scholar, educator and civil servant. After imprisonment in the Bastille and exile in England, he was appointed in 1689 translator of the States-General of the United Provinces. This work offers fascinating insight into the intellectual and social practices of Huguenots in France and in the diaspora.
